Pass the Water
Before starting this game, get all the kids into their swimsuits because they’re going to get wet! Start by giving each kid a cup and standing them in a line. The goal is to pass as much water to the back of the line, but they can’t turn around to do it. Instead, the person at the front has to toss the water over their head and the second in line has to try to catch as much water as possible. You can add to it by giving the kids a bucket at the front and back of the line to transfer all the water from one end to the other.
A deck of cards — or several — is a must for camping. Be sure you bring along a deck for everyone, and you can play all of the following games. You can look up all of the rules online if you can’t remember how to play any of them.
- Aw Heck — It’s known by a few names, but this is the one we use in our household.
- Pounce also known as Dutch Blitz, Racing Demon, Hell, Pounce, Peanuts, Squinch, Turkey Stack, Nerts, and Snerts
- Slap Jack
- And so many more!
Two Truths and a Lie
After everyone has settled down around the fire after a day of adventures, you can play Two Truths and a Lie to get everyone talking. This easy game is a great way to learn more about friends and family members. Each person takes turns telling the group three things about themselves; only one of the statements is a lie. Everyone else has to guess which of the statements is a lie.
Get everyone laughing with this goofy dancing game. Turn on your favorite tunes and turn out the lights. Give one person a flashlight, and whenever they turn on the light, everyone has to freeze. Anyone caught dancing in the light has to sit down. The last person dancing wins!
